For the love of...shoes

I am big into shoes. Always have and probably always will be a shoe chick. I remember when my husband and I moved in to together the amazement he shared with his buddy at the volume of moving boxes containing said articles. Since then I try to keep the collection reasonable by culling every couple months. I however have yet to achieve the one in, one out level of collecting zen.

Anyways, I saw the first pair in the sale section at Asos and could not help myself as I love a pointy, low-cut stiletto. Add the steel heel, thin ankle strap, low price and I’m sold. The only question left was ‘’do I up the ante with a little black dress or work it out with trousers?” Ending up being the former for maximum effect.

The second pair are in a different category all together. Not only in look, but also in price (still a steal). These Alexander Wang booties have the softest, almost suede like soles and are super funky. You can't really see it but the heels have the coolest fin running down the entire length. I had planned on wearing them already, but after the super long work week (reason for the lack of posts) I decided to give my feet a break with ballerinas.

Pleasantly blissful

Wouldn't it be great to find the joy in every single moment? Even the small things like having breakfast. Well I hope to be more of an enjoyable and companionable morning person by eating my morning meal out of the Fig bowl from Petite Friture (obsessed with their curiosity container). Quite simple in looks but I love the classic shape accompanied by the braille saying "boire du petit lait", loosely translating into finding or enjoying bliss. To truly appreciate every second and every ounce.

This is how a bowl transfers the humble first meal into a enjoyable moment. Of course being filled with cherry & pistachio bread pudding slathered in extra cream and cinnamon sugar helped some.

Alarming

I am not, I repeat not a morning person. Without an alarm I would not make it to work, or any other activity beginning before noon, on time. That's if the kids are A. dog-tired. B. manage to get their hands on an iPad. But even in those instances I still have to get out of bed earliest and need a bit of help doing so. I use the alarm on my iPhone which is all fine and dandy but why not have a bit of fun with it?

How chic is the alarming clock! The tone changes depending on what you set in front of it. You can check out the video here.

Caramel, churros & salt

Weekend activities tend to always hold an element of baking or making of a sweet treat of some type. This weekend I went for a fried treat which I have been longing for since eyeing them at a stand at last month's yearly fair. I got especially excited at the thought of being able to dunk them in salted caramel sauce. With a few more flecks of sea salt on the sauce and the churros rolled in cinnamon sugar, how can you help but relax into the weekend?

Mini kitchen update

Kids take over your space, whether it be living room, bathroom or kitchen. For my kitchen it meant all the breastfeeding working mom paraphernalia from the pump to the bottles to the drying rack to the tote to lug it all around. How I longed during this time for a cleaner workspace and dreamt of giving the counters an invigorating update as reward for the extra load of two happy, worthwhile yet cluttered years of babies and breastfeeding.

Still longing for my beloved Kitchenaid mixer, but really happy with the space so far. The breadbox is a godsend and I love the fun of the new tea towels and distinctness of the new and old cutting boards. There are now lots of little vignettes to look at as well as having everything neatly put away. Now let's get saving for that new mixer!!

Product love; roulade sofa

In our home you can find several poufs and large floor cushions. They are handy, compact and oh so much fun, especially specialty shaped ones like the pink suitcase from Woouf in the kids play area. So I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw this Swiss-roll shaped sofa from Versus & available at Designdelicatessen. Makes me immediately start to rethink the design of Zoe Isobel’s room with the question how to work it in, followed by how to pay for it?

P. S. also check out the lovely lounge of layers sofa from Droog.
