Cool taps & wicked sinks

I did a bathroom remodel about seven years ago and I still think it's great. Which is saying a lot because I grow bored like you would not believe.

The only thing I was not a hundred percent behind were the taps. So boy do I wish cool Aussie brand Wood Melbourne existed back then.

And if we’re dreaming my then and now favourite for sinks is Dutch brand Marike. These are going in my dream bathroom, even if it is only on paper!

Tour: ¡Hola!

Part of my downtime, actually a super-sized portion, was dedicated to getting ready to, moving and doing post-move decorating.Guess what, it paid off because I frigging LOVE my home. It's a clear reflection of me. Everything from the kids super fun rooms, the little cheeky details, to the shoes on display. I love it so much, I want to share it. So I will be posting tours regularly about different spaces in my home.

And what better place to start than the entry? It's wide, long and high which makes it feel oh so roomy and welcoming. I love unlocking my door and the peephole always makes me giggle with glee. Even the view up or down the flights of stairs makes me beam. It feels good to come home. Welcome to my home! Do wipe your feet, will you J.

Ovis Lounge chair

I love a  pouf, sofa, singular chair or any other sculptural piece of furniture you can sit on. Just take a look at my space, which I will be sharing as it gets completed. From living to kids room, there is always something functional with form to rest your butt on. I especially adore my Eames rocker and Bertoia diamond side chair and only wish I had more space to display if not sit on these four-legged treasures.

Especially now I have discovered the Ovis Lounge chair from Ladies and Gentlemen Studio. So simple yet so striking. Modern simplicity at its best and equally beautiful in leather and wool. I’m thinking this is the sitting piece my master bedroom needs. What could make a more perfect chill hangout from which to watch the sun set and gear down than this minimal sling seat? Ahh, feel unwinding commence.

Pretty face

Ending up having a short but unexpected second break due to chickenpox, go figure. Since I am in the mood for a pretty face, if not my own, I couldn't resist a post about my Haru painting by Christiaan Lieverse.

I’ve had her for years on loan from Kunsthuizen. Gotta love the Dutch system of art loaning. Recently I wondered if she was not already paid off? Turns out she is and more, so now she is mine!

P.S. I have my eye on some other pieces at the gallery and still have some budget left. Only problem...not enough wall space, but for every problem there is a solution. Art, thee shall be mine!

Re-boot

The break from blogging took a lot longer than anticipated. I also am not quite done and actually have not done anything to the blog in weeks. While I may still have a few tweaks yet to make, I feel it is time to just get on with it. Go forward, discover and share.

That reason for the break was some much needed time to put myself in a place to discover, with freshness, clarity and verve. Life is for living and to live is to discover, to re-invent, to be. And so of course the place where I share  my discoveries in life and design, needed the same..time offline to re-boot... Not 100% 'perfect but like Mary Poppins said 'Practically perfect in every way"!

Chanel art bag

I am not, I state am not a fashion blogger. I don't follow fashion week nor do I devour fashion magazine after fashion magazine. My own sense of style is purely instinctive. I wear what I feel good in and that suits me. So trends don't necessarily evade me but they also are not my inspiration.

But then I saw the Chanel art bags...

Don't get me wrong I don't see this look entering my closet, especially as backpacks still remind of school and I have no need to be reminded of my more nerdy days. Plus sadly I don't have a Chanel sized fashion budget. But I do have to admit that the shoppers, chain shouder bag and giant classic black-and-white portfolio might sway me.

Overall I love the nonchalant feel of graffiti art meets high fashion brand on what is usually such an elegant item. Art meets bags. And I love it!
