Wearable marble

I was swooning over the brass and marble holders from Yield when I saw the Petra collection.  Natural stone, geometric shapes and precious metals. I've been looking for a simple but unique necklace that is not too trendy or overpowering. These pieces add just enough interest to make a subtle impact. Red velvet

Wine red and burgundy are the colours of fall. The intense colour of the maple trees in the garden make the darker mornings and shorter days brighter. And so I need this colour in my wardrobe ..albeit it toned down with black and soft pinks. And since it's is autumn, it has to be suede, velvet and wool.

Lines

Unreformed shopaholic on holiday means a amazing amount of time is spent tracking down the best shopping spots. That includes plenty of tiny, individual boutiques but also hitting up a high-street store or two. Natural fluidity

Right now I'm loving the light, natural colors and fresh tones I've been seeing. Beige, greige, light pink and off-white, in soft, less rigmented shapes. Easy, breezy but not boring. Perfect for spring.. if we ever get there in Holland.

Yellow brick, red block heels

These shoes instantly made me think of The wizard of Oz. Three clicks of those red babies was all it took. Except instead of no place like home it made me like, no crave, a pair of block heels. Up until then I despised the prim and proper look. Who knew, all it took was a bit of red and the ability to wear as a mule. Perfect for a bright but slightly nippy spring day. Find them here.

Gold splattered fedora

I kind of feel guilty admitting it but I loathe DIY fashion. Most of the time it looks like a kid trying out a sewing machine for the first time. Except I saw the most beautiful fedora from Eugenia Kim but couldn't justify the price tag. Plus it kept whispering..you can do this. And so I did!

A simple, inexpensive fedora, gold textile paint and now I have my own customized bit of headgear for rainy days of like the picture covering up my post-workout hair! I watered the paint down to desired consistency, which I tested on a piece of scrap paper. I did a mix of smaller taps and larger drops. Make sure to cover up the part of the hat you don't want to splatter. It's that simple.

Valentines lookbook; reds, pinks and golds

Staying in is our going out. Don't get me wrong I love getting dressed up and being my guy's arm candy but going out on Valentines just feels like too much. But that doesn't stop me from doing a little daydreaming..of this outfit, a surprise weekend getaway, a romantic dinner for two and a stay somewhere oozing sexy sophistication like the Fairmont in San Fran.

My guy is 100% red-blooded male. That means red is the colour of choice, the fit of choice is fitted to a T and the stiletto fetish is a match only comparable to my own. Except for the red, which is not my first colour choice ever, I'd totally sign up for this look, especially with the softer, more romantic touches in the accessories.

Festive family of jumpers..

These are by far not the perfect family Christmas pictures. Despite my deepest desire of a Christmas card perfect family pic, these slightly goofball, imperfect ones are hands down my favourite. They capture us and our personality and that's the way it is. Mika's pouty look is as indicative of him as is his smile, plus he is just too cool for school or in this case..Family Christmas pics!

Christmas sweaters are so wrong they're right. I am determined to kit us out like a Christmas card..and take a Christmas card style family picture. The jumpers, and yes his lights up, are for us. I keep meaning to do an outfit post just like I keep meaning to wear all the things on the 'checklist', otherwise known as the backlist. Fringe

I'm sorry but Zara is crazy good at making me long to over stuff my wardrobe. This top is so good. I love the flap, the asymmetric cut-out, the wispy texture, the higher neckline and of course the chunky zip hardware. Soft means clean lines, perfect.

Sneaks

Sneakers remind me of school days..blech. White shoes are just no. Or at least that's the way I used to feel about white sneakers. That is.. till I bought the stop/start platform trainers from Zara. Well here are my newest pair of white sneakers. I totally fell for these for the metallic detail on the heel. When I saw the clasps are rose gold, well it was done deal.

I haven't worn them yet though because neurotic as I am I know exactly the outfit for these..

Fashion wishlist!

What of the the things I hear most when I'm slightly distracted on my phone is "you're shopping aren't you?" I try to defend myself with the trusty "I'm just looking". Here's is what I'm just looking at now...

This smooth raw-edge draped skirt from Cos has been on my mind for weeks. Same goes for the perfect accessories for the coming autumn winds; the felt hat with a twist with the snake chain. From Lanvin. I hate to admit but Zara is a go-to for cool, affordable fashions. Current favourites; stone leather culottes yes please and the oversized blouse with split back for effortless cool. Loving white trainers and these toecap snakeskin trainers by Adidas are nigh on perfect.

The tie pin ring

I posted about my love for Ryan Storer and now I want to show you.

The good thing about bouts of insomnia is being awake at 3am during sale season. The same brands and sizes that are sold out during the day, magically reappear in the ungodly hours. Such was the case with this ring.

It was dubbed a tie pin and I'll go with that. I love the irregular shape which lends this noticeable piece a minimal and fluid line. So eye-catching you needn't wear any other accessories.
